Our morning will be spent discovering the UK’s only china clay museum, Wheal Martyn. This museum uncovers the history of this unique industry and tells the stories of the people who were involved in Cornwall’s ‘white pyramids’.
It would only be fitting to enjoy a pasty lunch before heading to the second hidden highlight of the day – Treffry viaduct in the World Heritage site of Luxulyan Valley. Here you will have the opportunity to learn more about the mining background from a local historian and to gain a further understanding of the work undertaken by the Cornwall Heritage Trust, before some free time to appreciate the beauty of this unfrequented valley.
