A day experience from the port of Falmouth or Fowey
Join your Cornwall Discovered representative this morning for an active day out in the Cornish countryside. First head to one of the wildlife hotspots of Cornwall for a morning hike up Helman Tor. Meet a local expert here who will discuss more about this Geological Site and give insight into the remains of the Neolithic hill settlement which is a Scheduled Ancient Monument. Afterwards we will head to a nearby village to refuel ourselves before a fun afternoon out on the water awaits us. Heading to the small but picturesque village of Golant, we are in for an afternoon of stand-up paddle boarding on the river. Take in the beautiful scenery, wildlife and gentle waters as you are guided by BSUPA fully trained tour guide. Some previous paddle boarding experience is required.
Join your Cornwall Discovered representative for a fun, social and active day on the waters of the Fowey estuary, situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty. We begin the day in the small but picturesque village of Golant for a morning of stand-up paddle boarding for beginners on the river. As they say, if you do not fall in, then you are clearly not trying hard enough! Journeying on to the nearby town of Fowey, a local Cornish lunch is in order after all of the hard work! Starting the afternoon with a guided walking tour of this iconic town’s highlights, we will gain the appetite for some more adventure. End this active day with a mackerel fishing trip led by an experienced Cornish skipper – make sure you don’t make any other dinner plans other than a BBQ! Weather and time of the year dependent.
Join your Cornwall Discovered representative for a flora and fauna phenomenon! St. Austell is host to a couple of extremely famous gardens, but in true CD fashion, let us reposition the compass and explore some hidden gems. Start the morning in the heart of St Austell exploring an 30-acre estate. Known as a garden for all seasons, Pinetum Gardens comprises several gardens within the one and is home to one of the largest plant collections in the county. After a short seminar into the history and ongoing work, enjoy plenty of time to take in this botanical paradise before a local lunch. In the afternoon we will journey along the Cornish lanes to a smaller garden-gem, hidden in the Fowey valley, but one that is impressively partnered with the RHS. Enjoy a welcome from the owners before plenty of time to take in this award-winning wonderland.
