Highlights on this tour include the maritime town of Falmouth, the iconic landmark of St Michael’s Mount, Tate St Ives, The Eden Project and more.
Cornwall is connected to the rest of the UK by the Cornish mainline and branching off from this route you can find some of the most scenic stretches of railway in the country. Whether it be the St Ives Bay Line in West Cornwall which sweeps past the golden dunes of Hayle Towans and Carbis Bay, or the Atlantic Coast Line which heads from the north to south coast through a wooded valley brimming with Cornish heritage, you are never far from an interesting view.
On our carefully constructed 7-night tour by train, local knowledge is literally right here at your fingertips, allowing you to discover parts of the county more usually missed by the casual tourist. With our help you will experience historical highlights, cultural treasures, pastoral landscapes and a community spirit - all without having to drive yourself anywhere! Whether it is your first or your hundredth time here, we aim to show you a different side of Cornwall, with wonderful scenery along the way.
Arrive in Cornwall, meet your driver and be transferred to your hotel for check in. This afternoon has been left free for you to relax after your journey and settle in before your Cornwall Discovered adventure starts. Perhaps have a look through the app and try out an evening dinner recommendation, or just enjoy reading through the abundance of local information at hand. Your hotel is extremely well located for the next couple of nights, and you can be sure to sit back and enjoy the luxurious surroundings.
After breakfast, it is time to head to the beautiful port of Falmouth, brimming both with vast maritime heritage and a modern cosmopolitan vibe. Head on your own voyage of discovery at one of Cornwall’s most interactive museums and explore the influence of the sea. After plenty of time to wander around the marina, return to Truro for another night under the cathedral skyline. Today we do promote walking to and from Truro station, but if the weather is not playing ball, or you just do not fancy it, a transfer can easily be organised through your app.
Check out of your hotel and start your journey to the west of Cornwall. Today’s highlight is St Michael’s Mount, the iconic rocky island in Mount’s Bay with a fascinating history and legacy. While your luggage is transferred ahead to your next hotel, explore this Cornish wonder, and learn some interesting background information via your app. Meet your driver at a prearranged time to travel the short distance to your night’s accommodation.
Today is all about scenic views – both via train and once you have arrived at one of the most picturesque and well-loved Cornish towns. Today the app will once again provide detailed and insightful information, but we have been sure to leave plenty of time for enjoying a coffee (or something stronger!) by the water and we include encouragement for the #2minutebeachclean during your initial stroll around this delightful location. Tonight, local knowledge will ensure that you enjoy some of the best and freshest produce in the area.
After a relaxed breakfast, a day of culture awaits at the Tate St Ives. With your entrance fee and booking slot taken care of, all is left for you to do is enjoy the extensive range of talent on show both here and at the nearby Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden. In the afternoon, it is time to travel by train to St Austell Bay and check in to your hotel for the next three nights.
We at Cornwall Discovered love the subject of sustainability, and what better Cornish advocate than the world-famous Eden Project. After breakfast, meet your transfer for a short drive and armed with your Cornwall Discovered overview information, explore this wonder of the world. Can you imagine it was a china clay pit? Plus of course, your entrance ticket is already booked and paid for…that Med Biome is calling! Some very local dinner recommendations await you this evening.
Today’s train adventure takes you through one of the most remote parts of Cornwall as you journey from the north to south coast. Take in some inspiring scenery before arriving in one of Cornwall’s most lively towns, and one that is a sure favourite for surfers. Take advantage of our local recommendations or why not design a more bespoke arrangement on this day. Be sure to end the afternoon with a Cornish cream tea before heading back to your hotel.
Enjoy your final morning – a leisurely breakfast, a final sea-swim and #2minutebeachclean are all recommended before your transfer back to the train station for your onward journey.
