Exploring Bodmin Moor
Today we set off to explore the vast landscape of Bodmin Moor. Steeped in both fascinating prehistoric history and more recent industrial heritage, there is plenty to discover. Highlights will include Trevethy Quoit, The Hurlers and Minions Heritage centre. After a light lunch, we will then stop at Restormel Castle in the afternoon - one of the most remarkable castles in Britain which affords fantastic views across the Fowey valley.
A Visit to Cornwall’s North Coast Wonder
No visit to Cornwall is complete without a trip to Tintagel Castle. As well as being enchanted by the tales of King Arthur as we explore this impressive coastal site, we will learn about the latest excavations that have taken place here and the intriguing links with the Mediterranean world. Again, there will be plenty of scenic Cornish viewpoints included in the days tour and a stop at the Iron Age Hillfort Castle an Dinas, considered to be one of the most important hillforts in the southwest.
Heritage Coastline
Today we will combine some beautiful Cornish scenery, and ‘Poldark-esque’ landscapes with perhaps one of the county’s most important archaeological sites. Standing atop of Carn Brea hill, you will not only learn all about the importance of the archaeological finds here, but also enjoy wonderful views of the rolling Cornish countryside too.
Delving into West Cornwall
Saving the best to last? Our final day explores some of West Cornwall’s wonders. Starting with Ancient Chysauster, the fantastic late Iron Age and Romano-British archaeological site, we will also explore Botallack Mine and The Merry Maidens. As always, we will aim to combine this historical wealth with plenty of stunning Cornish viewpoints along the way.
