Join Katie for a fun and active day exploring the Fowey estuary, which is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty. To kick start the day, we first arrive at a little cove on the outskirts of Fowey to carry out a short beach clean before journeying on to the small but picturesque village of Golant for a morning of kayaking on the river. At this point, Katie will be joined by a local fully qualified instructor who will guide you along this serene part of the river and point out some wildlife and historical wonders along the way. The Fowey estuary has inspired many writers including Kenneth Grahame who is said to have taken inspiration for Wind in the Willows, so do look out for Ratty and Mole! After all the hard work, a local Cornish lunch is in order before journeying along the Cornish lanes once more. Our next stop is a secret garden-gem, but one that is impressively partnered with the RHS. Enjoy a welcome from the owners before plenty of time to take in this award-winning wonderland at your leisure. After a cup of tea in the garden, it’s about time for something a little stronger, and for something which happens to one of Katie’s favourite tipples! Not far away, lies an award-winning gin distillery with emphasis on sustainability. Finish the day learning about the process and of course sampling the goods during a tasting tour.
A little word from Katie:
'Cornwall has so many things to offer but getting 'out and active' in the invigorating Cornish fresh air, speaks to my soul. Not only will we have a fun-filled day out exploring some of mid-Cornwall's hidden gems - we will also take the opportunity to learn about local wildlife, smell some beautiful flowers and end our day with a welcomed drink at an award-winning distillery...doesn't get much better than that does it? hic!'
